If this is truly what Skyactiv is, then the dealer had no clue what it actually was…
We rented a new 2018 Mazda CX5 with most of the bells and whistles a few months ago. I will say I was impressed, I can't recall the numbers but for an SUV it got really good gas mileage and it really came to life when I let it sing. Pretty neat!
Mazda > Overrated trash Honda
More air? Speed?
Finally I watch a video about car I actually own
I don't know what type of the alcohol they drink when they design active G engine.
Thank you for explaining this so well!
when you see so many Mazda's on the road it's a sign of reliability
This is why Toyota trade their hybrid tech for this, it must works
I have a 2016 Mazda CX-5. Time will tell about durability. I traded in a 2008 Chevy Equinox with a 185 hp V-6 that was averaging 20.6 mpg overall. This Skyactiv engine is a 184 hp 4 cyl. that is averaging 27.2 mpg overall! Virtually the same hp but nearly 7 miles per gallon better fuel economy! 15 gallon gas tank,so better than 100 miles per tank of gas! I don't tow anything so less engine torque is no big deal for me. Very impressed with this vehicle…..so far.
How reliable are these engines? Can it go upto 200,000 miles like toyotas and hondas?
So my car has a hemi? Lol
high compression…
Just bought a 2014 Mazda3 2.0, so it's interesting to see more in depth what SkyActiv is exactly
with such a high compression ratio why not just make it a diesel?
Ford should have done this on there fuel saving model SfE Focus. all they did was put on active shutters and closed off wheel covers on the 2012 Focus. Got mine in 2011 and since it was the only model that had a Spoiler on the lot, they charged $500 for those three features, now it's just $90 but after they reprogrammed the PCM, ABS and Transmission to shift smoother from a standing stop, the gas mpg is about the same as the normal model SE. Before that I was getting near 40mpg hwy, not anymore.
Why is it that you Americans get such, for lack of a better term, low quality gasoline at 87 octane for regular unleaded? Here in New Zealand, our regular unleaded petrol is 91 octane with the premium, fancy stuff being 95 octane
"…a concession being made so we can feed them regular gas."
Why does the US market get a less efficient version of the Skyactiv engine? So people can save a few cents at the pump? What a stupid decision.
Thanks for the 101!!!!
I really like this video. It clearly explains the branded tech without being a ad.
Mazda are beast!
Brilliant engineering.
