Kris Aquino ‘lets go’ of Mel Sarmiento over deteriorating health
KRIS Aquino has confirmed that she and former Home Secretary Mel Sarmiento have split more than two months after announcing their engagement.

Rumors of the split began after netizens noticed the former “queen of all media” deleted all of her photos and videos with Sarmiento on her social media account.
In a post on her Instagram account, Aquino revealed that her health has continued to deteriorate and that she will soon be flying abroad to get tested to address her drastic weight loss due to an autoimmune disease.
“I have accepted the truth that many complications can arise from an autoimmune disease, especially as I am immunocompromised and we have been forced to live with what has been a global pandemic for almost two years. My faith in God has taught me that I must surrender myself completely to His will and timing,” Aquino said.

The presenter also shared a series of photos showing her being treated from home and at a hospital.
Aquino then showed her screenshots of Sarmiento’s last text message and said it would be the last time the public will read or hear anything about him to “preserve the dignity that [she] has left.”
Sarmiento’s message included that he had planned to join Aquino for her medical exams, but ultimately decided against it due to exposure to multiple people while visiting a mall, which could worsen her health if she ever contracts the virus.
“In the last two days I’ve had enough time to think about things and have accepted that making sure you don’t get Covid is a huge responsibility. Given my nature which loves to go out, I accept the fact that I already have bladder fatigue and I will unfortunately no longer be able to live in a bubble,” Sarmiento’s text message read.
“With that in mind, it is with a heavy heart that I accepted your offer to let me go as I cannot in conscience accept that anything will happen to you that caused me to come out of the bubble. I will always keep in my heart the happy moments we had together. I love you but I think this farewell is of the utmost importance in your life as you have Bimby and Josh to take care of. You will always be in my heart,” the message ended.
In the same post, Aquino then asked for “some respect for [her] humanity and privacy now and in the coming months as [she] fights for her health.”
It will be remembered that it was last October when the 50-year-old announced her engagement to Sarmiento, calling him an “overall good and patient man”.

MANILA, Philippines — Kris Aquino announced Monday, March 14, that she and her sons Josh and Bimby have returned to their home after a hospitalization for a series of pre-tests.
“Nakauwi na kami (We are at home). This was our last [picture] before we headed to our temporary rented home. Maghihintay long (we’re just waiting) for my bone marrow test results. Super blessed to have the love and care of these two giants,” she wrote.
In a separate Instagram video, Kris detailed her hospitalization – she was admitted on March 10th and underwent a PET/CT scan, upper endoscopy and bone marrow biopsy procedures on March 11th.
Kris added that no cancer or tumors were discovered but she was diagnosed with erosive gastritis and stomach ulcers.
According to the MSD Manual website, erosive gastritis is “erosion of the gastric mucosa caused by damage to the mucosal defenses. It is typically acute and manifests with bleeding, but can be subacute or chronic with few or no symptoms.”
Meanwhile, the MAYO Clinic defined a peptic ulcer as an open sore that develops on the inside of the stomach.
Kris also shared that there are no results from the biopsy yet, but that the test is meant to “rule out a blood-related disorder that’s associated with [her] weight loss and [her] anemia.”
“I won’t lie to you, there’s this parang nabugbog nang bongga (very bruised) feeling in my lower spine, but apart from my medical limitations, halos wala na kasi akong (I have almost no) fat to ‘help’ ‘ my bones Kaya exag ang sakit, skin then diretso sa buto (That’s why it’s really painful, it’s going straight from the skin to my bones),” she shared.
Despite everything she’s going through, Kris said she constantly reminds herself that her current pain is temporary and that instead she will continue to pray. Her doctors and caregivers also advised her to “eat more, relax, get some fresh air, and try to start walking.”
“As we travel to consult with more allergy, immunology and hematology experts – they said please make it a real health and wellness journey. Iregalo ko raw sa sarili at sa mga anak ko (I should give it to myself and my sons.)”
She ended her update by thanking her supporters for the concerns and prayers for her wellbeing. Several celebrities have also sent their well wishes for Kris’ speedy recovery in the comments.
“I continue to pray for the faith to continue in hopes that I may become healthy enough for those who still need and love me,” she wrote.
