Niko Price VS Geoff Neal

Geoff Neal on ‘Wild One’ vs. Niko Price: ‘He’s Hard to Hit Without Getting One Back’

Neal (12-2), one of the hottest welterweight prospects in the sport, knocked out fellow contender Niko Price by 2:39 in the second frame.

“Handz of Steel” shook Price with punches and ended up finishing him off while he was in Price’s guard. That kind of power is hard to come by, but Neal packs a punch.

The fight wasn’t perfect, however, as Price had Neal on shaky legs on more than one occasion. The two swung wildly in spurts and each man had his opponent on the brink of being blasted into oblivion. But Neal’s chin held up and he still got the stop win.

“It was a wild thing,” Neal sa after his conquest. “I really expected to fight a guy like Niko. He’s hard to beat without getting one back. I couldn’t throw more than one shot without him hitting back. I deced to throw just a few punches.

“I think he dropped me twice,” he added. “But I was able to pull myself together and get the fight where I wanted it to be. I knew he was only a few shots away and the referee stepped in.”

Neal’s corner dn’t want him to put it down with Price and they made that clear during the fight. Even after dropping his opponent and landing some hell of a punch into Price’s guard, his corner yelled loudly for him to get out of that position.

They wanted him to get back on his feet, take his time, and let the knockout happen, but he either dn’t hear them or knew what was going to happen.

“It’s good to have that experience against someone who’s going to keep trying to take my head off,” Neal sa. “It was a good fight for me. The game plan was to stay out and take it apart. I had to take a few shots to get in.”

The obvious question was who he wants next and when, but Neal, knowing he’s still a long way from taking on the best at 170 pounds, played it cool.

Confent as ever, the Fortis MMA student knows his time will come and he will be prepared. “Right now I just want to recover and go back to the gym,” he sa. “Whatever comes next, I’m ready for it.”

UFC 240 bonus winners: Geoff Neal’s vicious TKO finish leads $50K winners

The action was delivered live on ESPN+ PPV from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada last night (Sat, July 27, 2019) at UFC 240 as Max Holloway successfully defended his featherweight title for the third consecutive year defeating Frankie Edgar in the main event.

In addition to Holloway’s return to the UFC pillar, Cris Cyborg avenged her recent loss with a hard-fought co-main event bout against Canadian contender Felicia Spencer, Geoff Neal continued his winning streak with a nasty TKO finish over welterweight Niko Price and promised featherweight forward Hakeem Dawodu d well on his ESPN

“Prelims” offered a brutal finish against Yoshinori Horie, and flyweight contenders Deiveson Figueiredo and Alexandre Pantoja fought on the undercard in one of the most exciting 125-pound affairs of the year.

Niko Price VS Tim Means

Niko Price was excited to draw Tim Means, but for this money? ‘I’ll fight a heavyweight, who cares

WICHITA, Kan. – As you may have noticed, elite athletes don’t particularly enjoy the feeling of losing. And for fighters training in a camp for weeks, it can be a particularly frustrating experience when it happens in just a few seconds.

How d Niko Price overcome that 43-second KO loss to Abdul Razak Alhassan at UFC 228?

Well, it’s really quite simple.

“I’m not over it until I win again,” Price sa today. “Well, you know, I’m going to go work on it.”

And that’s exactly what Price (12-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) will be trying to do when he meets Tim Means (28-10-1 MMA, 10-7 UFC) on Saturday at UFC on ESPN+ 4, 6 months after the fast Loss.

The easy layoff, Price says, was intentional. After completing Camps for his three fights in 2018 — and another for a fight with Belal Muhammad that dn’t pan out — Price felt “sluggish” going into his fight with Alhassan and deced to give his weary one a go give your body some rest.

Taking the time to “rebuild myself and get better” also meant changing some things in his camp. Ase from getting a new coaching staff and “hopping around a few different gyms” than his own, Price also deced to re-evaluate his diet.

As a result, the day before the weigh-in, Price was just two pounds away from the 171-pound mark – as opposed to the 186 pounds he was sitting at during the same phase of his previous fight week.

“I’ve always felt so confent because I can lose weight so easily,” Price sa. “Right now I’m 173. So I’ll eat some fish, some chicken and some fruit and I’ll be great. And then I’ll lose weight in the morning for maybe 20 minutes in the hot tub.”

As you may be able to tell from watching the video, Price is excited for his return, which will be streamed live on ESPN+ from the INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita. And that has to do with the person who will be standing across from him in the cage, too — so much so that Price dn’t even have to hear Means’ last name before immediately agreeing.

“It’s going to be a great fight,” Price sa. “We’re going to get in there, we’re both going to fight. That’s the great thing: It doesn’t get boring. When we get in there, we both meet in the mdle and then it goes down.”

Consering the and track record of both fighters, “boring” really isn’t a word most would associate with the match. Price has heard everyone say the word “violence,” and he also believes it will happen — even if he doesn’t plan to bleed.

While this isn’t a match that most fans would complain about, it’s not necessarily one that many were expecting right now. After all, Means is a veteran who recently had a big win while Price suffered a loss.

But results, Price points out, aren’t all that comes into this particular industry.

“Oh, they (the UFC brasses) like me,” Price sa. “You know I’m gonna go in there and bang. We’re going to put on some shows. You don’t have to win to be great at this sport. You just have to show up and fight. I like to fight, so I’ll fight anyone.

“I was saying to my coaches in the background, I was like, ‘I’m going to fight everybody. For this money? I’ll get there I’m going to fight a heavyweight. Who cares? As long as my ks are eating, my family is being taken care of, and God is guing me, I’ll do it.”

Niko Price VS Abdul Razak Alhassan

Abdul Razak Alhassan: Niko Price being disrespectful at UFC 228 weigh-ins dn’t get to me

DALLAS — With 10 first-round knockouts in his 10 wins in professional MMA, we have yet to see the first part of Abdul Razak Alhassan’s nickname “Judo Thunder” in action in a cage.

But Alhassan (10-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC), who defeated Niko Price (12-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) in just 43 seconds at Saturday’s UFC 228, has a perfect explanation for why that is.

Before switching to MMA, the welterweight first got into kickboxing. There he found that he had strength in both his hands and legs.

Perhaps, Alhassan muses, he could have used his judo more if he had started MMA straight away. But since that wasn’t the case?

“No one wants to fight for 15 minutes,” Alhassan sa after his pay-per-view main card fight at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. “Come on.

We all just want in and out. So if I know I can throw my hands and get you out quick, I’ll just do it. But when the time comes and I need to use my judo, I will use it.”

From the looks of it, Alhassan is in his element when things get a little crazy. Sure, he’s training to learn how to withdraw and walk away from strikes.

But “when the person stands right there and I start throwing,” then he finds his openings. And while that can be a dangerous strategy, it appears to be paying off.

However, this aggressiveness towards his opponents seems to start and end in a cage. Alhassan isn’t interested in talking trash and insulting his opponents before entering it. When he shook Price’s hand during the weigh-in, just so his opponent wouldn’t do the same, he took it as disrespect.

“He dn’t want to shake my hand, well – I won’t say anything about it,” Alhassan sa. “But I know all my coaches, my friends, everyone was really upset about it. They texted me, you know, “Hit him for disrespecting you.”

I sa, ‘I’m definitely going to do that.’ When we got to the back his trainer actually came up to me and he sa, ‘No disrespect, that’s the way he is, he doesn’t like shaking people’s hand before the fight. But he’s not trying to disrespect you or anything.”

But Alhassan says he dn’t take it personally. Afterwards, he sa, Price approached him to congratulate him on the win and to make sure he knew he wasn’t a bad loser and dn’t mean disrespect. And as proof that there was no ill will, Alhassan sa the two could even have dinner together that night.

In any case, it’s clear that what happened outse the cage wasn’t enough to worry Alhassan inse.

“I know that usually during the fight everyone wants to intimate people or say something or do something to get the person going,” Alhassan sa. “But after the fight, everyone is kind of — for me, I don’t care. You can insult me, you can try to intimate me, I don’t care. Because I know that when we get there, I will definitely do what I have to do.

“I feel like intimation doesn’t work. Say what you have to say. If we get in there, I’ll beat you at any cost.”

We’ll see what the future holds for Alhassan after a 4-1 start in his octagon run, but he won’t give us any clues. He’s not one to call people out, he sa, and will take on anyone his coaches and manager see fit.

However, he can tell us one thing about his future: we will probably see him again in Elton John’s “Circle of Life” from “The Lion King”.

And the reason for this should warm your heart.

“I’ve been watching ‘Lion King’ with my son and every time this song comes on he’s kind of excited,” Alhassan sa. “And when I saw it, I had to smile – I got goosebumps when the song played. And I was like, ‘Okay, I’m definitely going to continue with this song.'”

UFC Vegas 38 results Niko Price outworks Alex Oliveira to secure unanimous decision win

Niko Price showed his stamina and desire to win with a strong third-round performance to secure a unanimous decision victory over Alex Oliveira at UFC Vegas 38.

After sharing the first two rounds with the Brazilian, Price knew he had to part ways in the final five-minute session, which was exactly what he delivered. Price was strong on his feet and then finished the fight with a takedown along with some heavy ground and pound to secure the win on the scorecards.

All three judges scored the fight 29-28 for Price, who grabs his first win since 2019.

“When it comes to decisions, I’m never happy. But I’m happy with the [win],” Price said. “[The last takedown] that’s 100 percent what it did. I’m ready to get in there and take on one of these top fighters.”

Some massive punches were traded to their feet before the welterweights hit the floor, allowing Price to work his way to the top. Price was smart with his shots and kept a close eye on Oliveira to make sure he never allowed an opening for a submission attempt.

Back in the second round, Oliveira was more careful with his shot selection, allowing him to connect with the better shots while showing good head movement against Price’s big looping shots. A trip during a quick exchange brought Price down with Oliveira on him to cause damage or possibly fixate on a submission.

With both fighters looking to secure victory, Oliveira and Price attempted to keep everything in the cage while pounding each other with a variety of punches. Oliveira was able to score with some stabbing shots but he was also slowly running out of gas.

In return, Price threw bombs from the outside including a right hand that blasted the Brazilian and momentarily set him on his heels. As time was running out, Price managed to pull off a takedown and end the fight with a barrage of punches and elbows, which was a timely statement to the judges.

While it wasn’t the barn burner many expected, Price still did a good job of earning a much-needed victory over a veteran like Oliveira, who has now lost his last three straight fights.
