Art of Living Foundation program director Rishi Nityapragya died Monday at a private hospital in Vadodara due to Covid-19 complications, his family said.
Nityapragya, 58, has been hospitalized since December 13 after testing positive for Covid-19.
A family member said he applied for a discharge from hospital and returned home on Sunday evening. On Monday morning, however, he complained of shortness of breath and was taken to the hospital, where he breathed his last.
Nityapragya, a chemical engineer with a past corporate career, was a close associate of spiritual guru and Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
In a statement, the Art of Living Foundation said: “He has served society selflessly for decades, inspiring thousands through his soulful and devotional satsangs. His enthusiasm and charisma were second to none and will forever remain in our hearts and memories.”
His final rites will be held in Vadodara on Monday, in accordance with Covid-19 protocols.
