Trolls say my disabled husband can’t satisfy me but they’re wrong
A couple have revealed on YouTube that cruel trolls are mocking their relationship and sex life.
Shane Burcaw was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and has used a wheelchair since he was 2 years old.
He met Hannah Aylward after she contacted him online and the two have been in a relationship ever since.
The pair even tied the knot in September 2020, but as their romance blossomed, they revealed the abuse and criticism they received as a result of their “interabled” relationship.
Shane, from Pennyslvania, appeared on This Morning alongside Hannah to chat about her life with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
Shane revealed that people often mistake Hannah for his nurse or caregiver, treat him like a child, or assume he is incapable.
And now the pair have taken to YouTube on an episode of StyleLikeU to open up about their sexuality.
The video was uploaded with the caption “Laugh at your Ableiist BS” and is part of the StyleLikeU series in which various individuals claim self-acceptance by stripping down to open up about style, self-image and identity.
Hannah explained, “A lot of times people assume I’m Shane’s sister or mother.
“We definitely get a lot of comments from straight men who think it’s not fair that I’m with Shane and that I should be with them.
“People say I couldn’t possibly be satisfied, we get that every day.”
Shane revealed that because of his condition, men often assume he can’t have sex, but that’s not the case.

He said: “You realize that I cannot have sex with your very limited, missionary husband and wife. They think that’s the be-all and end-all of sex.

Shane explained that while he can’t physically move like able-bodied men would, it definitely doesn’t cause problems in the bedroom.
He continued: “Often I am not the initiator.
“A able bodied man could come up to Hannah and start rubbing her shoulders and I’m just like, ‘Hey, do you want to have sex?’ and I know that probably upsets people, like, ‘Oh, this doesn’t have to be romantic,” but take our word for it.
“Having asked that, we’re romantic.
“If we’re in bed together, I can ask her, ‘Will you roll me over to you?’ or ‘Can you move my arm so I can reach your neck or your cheek?'”

Hannah explained, “Generally, Shane uses his voice in a way that maybe other people would just do something physically.”

She continued, “We have shorthand for all of these things — it doesn’t say ‘can you move my legs under your legs?’ we just know.
“I feel like I know his body and what it likes as well as I know my own.”
The couple is so comfortable with each other that their relationship works perfectly and they trust each other completely.
Hannah added, “The best thing about our relationship is that we’re comfortable.”
