Chanteé Lans is an Edward R. Murrow Award-winning journalist. Chanteé is currently the Long Island correspondent for WABC-TV’s Eyewitness News. She was previously a writer for The New York Times.

Before returning to New York, Chanteé was an investigative reporter and evening host at ABC’s Shreveport, Louisiana affiliate. She was also a general duties reporter for KYW-TV CBS Philadelphia and WBZ-TV CBS Boston.

Chanteé interviewed President Joe Biden. She also covered the Boston Marathon bombings, the arrest and murder trial of New England patriot Aaron Hernandez, the sexual assault trial of Bill Cosby, the Philadelphia Eagles’ first Super Bowl win and the imprisonment and release of rapper Meek Mill , which led to criminal justice reform in Pennsylvania and the United States.

Chanteé was selected by the Radio Television Digital News Association to travel to NATO Headquarters and the European Union in Brussels, Belgium, as a fellow of the RIAS German/American Exchange Program.

Born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island, Chanteé earned her Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism from Temple University. The school honored her with the Lew Klein Alumni in the Media Rising Star Award.

She received her master’s degree in global development and social justice from St. John’s University.

Chanteé Lans is a general duties reporter at WBZ-TV CBS in Boston. She joined WBZ after reporting for WPRI-TV and its sister station WNAC-TV, the Providence, Rhode Island affiliates of CBS and FOX.

Before covering New England, Lans was a reporter on WFMY-TV CBS 2 in Greensboro, North Carolina and News 12 Long Island. She was also a reporter and producer at WAPT-TV ABC 16 in Jackson, Mississippi and a National Desk Broadcast contributor for CBS News in New York.

Lans has won multiple awards, including the 2014 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award and the 2013 Radio Television Digital News Association Michele Clark Fellowship. She was also nominated for two New England Emmy Awards.

Lans graduated from Temple University in 2006, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.

While there, she reported for Temple’s NPR affiliate WRTI 90.1FM. She also helped Latino teenagers in downtown Philadelphia produce internet radio segments.

Lans helped revive the Temple chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. She has served as Vice President for the past two years, and in 2006 the chapter won NABJ’s Student Chapter Award. Lans later co-founded the Southern New England Association of Black Journalists and served as its first president. In 2014, the SNEABJ was recognized by the national organization as an official chapter and in 2015 it received the NABJ Professional Chapter of the Year Award.
