SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – After weeks of insisting that those fully vaccinated against coronavirus infection can safely get rid of the face mask in most situations, San Diego County public health officials have reversed the course. on Tuesday, recommending wearing a mask indoors for everyone.
The announcement came Tuesday afternoon, hours after a comparable change in national policy implemented by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Dr. Jeff Barke does not support mask mandates, especially for the vaccinated, emphasizing the fact that young children and healthy adults have very little risk with COVID-19.
Furthermore, Dr. explained. Barke, “our immune system is much stronger than the very, very narrow, vaccine that pushed immunity. We need to get the actual science, not the politics. We play politics with people’s lives, and when it comes to children, parents have to step back. ”
Barke insisted the masks were not effective at preventing the spread of the virus, but said people who believe they work, are free to wear one. Citing many high-credit studies, Barke explained, “I continue to believe that masks play a very small role. And by the way, if you are one to believe that masks are effective in protecting. you, then wear a mask. But if you’re wearing a mask, you don’t care if I’m wearing a mask. ”
Continuing, “if you’ve been vaccinated, and you believe the vaccine offers great protection, then you shouldn’t care if I’m vaccinated. All common sense is gone here, and it’s become a political game. No. a discussion of science. ”
