Update December 28, 2021: The Voice runner-up Wendy Moten underwent elbow surgery on December 17 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Her second place allowed her to take care of it and her homecoming immediately after The Voice’s finale.
“I have one of Vanderbilt’s top surgeons preparing to work on my arm,” she said in an Instagram post on the way to the hospital where Dr. Douglas Weikert carried out the repairs. She then added: “December, January, February, everything is shutting down. I’m going to recover…Once I’m through with this surgery and my recovery is over…then I’m going to put some things together and get some shows going. Record some more music.”

Update December 13, 2021: It turns out Wendy Moten’s accident on stage at The Voice in November was a lot worse than it initially appeared. Though she said she fractured her right elbow and dislocated it twice, as well as broken her left hand, following the final night of Monday’s performances, the Nashville resident announced she was undergoing elbow surgery.
“My elbow’s jacked up,” she told Parade.com. “It’s shattered. I have to have metal plates and bolts put in, so I was amazed that knowing this I could still go on, but I was able to go on.”
Wendy is one of the frontrunners in the competition with a shot at the title and a record deal, so she took that into account when scheduling the surgery.
“I spoke to the doctor at Vanderbilt and they have everything,” she said. “They have set me two appointments if I win an operation and if I don’t win I have another date for that operation. I will have this operation in a few days or next week. ”
Wendy was originally scheduled to have surgery in Burbank, but transferred to Nashville for follow-up care should anything go wrong. “I will be at home. My family is closer.”
