Jan Jeffcoat is an American television personality who currently serves as the lead presenter for The National Desk, a headline news service aired on stations owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group.

She has had brief appearances on several television shows including NBC’s This Is Us, Netflix’s What If, FOX’s 911, Family Time, and Truth Be Told on Apple TV. She has also acted in the Lifetime Movie My Daughter was Stolen. In November 2019, she appeared in the films “In the Line of Duty” and “Mainstream” with director Gia Coppola.
At age 12, she hosted a local children’s program in her hometown of Greenville, South Carolina. Her first reporting job was in Tallahassee, Florida. She has worked as a reporter and/or anchor at WBTV in Charlotte, NC and WCSC-TV in Charleston, SC.
Jeffcoat was a morning anchor with KRIV in Houston, TX from November 2004 to June 2007. During her time at KRIV, the morning show became Houston’s fastest-growing morning news story.
Jeffcoat began hosting Chicago’s WFLD-TV on June 25, 2007. First, she was a co-host of the morning program Good Day Chicago. In August 2010, she was promoted to co-host of the network’s Noon news program. She hosted WFLD-TV’s Good Day Chicago for three years, which won a 2008 Illinois AP Award for Best News Show. While in Chicago, she won an Edward R. Murrow Award for a documentary she hosted. It contains extensive content from her time covering the devastation in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. She also received two local Emmy awards for separate reports.[5]
She and three co-hosts started Scripps’ The List; a syndicated entertainment show. She left WFLD in 2012. From 2013 to 2018, Jeffocat was the morning and evening television news anchor for WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C. Jeffcoat has worked for Sinclair Broadcast Group since 2018, initially for competitor WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C. and, as of late 2020, for Sinclair’s national headline service, The National Desk, broadcasting from WJLA-TV studios.

She also received an Emmy nomination for Best Texas Anchor in 2006 and 2007, as well as two AP Awards for anchoring, which she ultimately did not win. In 2005 and 2006, Jeffcoat was nominated by the American Women of Radio and Television for the Star Award for Best On-Air Personality in Houston, but again did not win. She was also named Outstanding Young Alumni of 2010 by her alma mater USC.
