Rosanna’s childhood and upbringing
Born and raised in Valledupar, a small town in northern Colombia, Rosanna Cordoba is the youngest of five siblings. Her parents worked in education, so studying and getting good grades was very important to Rosanna.
Three of her brothers later became surgeons and one went into education. As for Rosanna, she received her master’s degree in tax law, which in Colombia was an extremely prestigious degree that only the students with the best grades could obtain.
Outside of academics, Rosanna spent her youth learning to dance salsa, enjoying music, and attending large family gatherings. All of this was an integral part of the culture in northern Colombia.
As Rosanna said; “Growing up in northern Colombia means salsa, vallenato music, going to the river, big family gatherings and salsa. Did I mention salsa? When Colombians go out at night, dancing is more important than talking and I love to dance.” – Rosanna Córdoba
Moving to America
In 2013, Rosanna made a big change in her life. Looking for new opportunities, primarily as a bikini and fitness model, she decided to take the plunge and move to the United States.
Rosanna says that despite being a proud Colombian, she moved from her country because there simply weren’t enough opportunities for her to stay.
Describing the contrast between Colombia and America, Rosanna said; “I’m a proud Colombian, I love my country, I love it, but the US is such a wonderful place full of opportunities.
In Colombia we work hard to become something that pays us to live. It is difficult and risky to try and do something else. I would never try to be a fashion designer, blogger or model in Colombia. But here the encouragement and support is overwhelming. ”
Blogger and online sensation
Despite facing the uncertainty of living in a new country, Rosanna’s bold decision to move eventually paid off. Immediately after moving to the US, Rosanna started her online blog where she published fitness and lifestyle related content.
Rosanna hoped her blog posts would get her some exposure that would allow her to work with modeling companies. Over time, their ambitions were realized.
After several months of daily blogging, Rosanna received her first offers for modeling work. Excited about the possibilities, she began working with various modeling companies across America.
Rosanna also became a social media star in the process – she opened her online profiles where she has since built a large following that is growing every day.
