The 19-year-old social media influencer attended a screening of The Forever Purge with his friend Rylee Goodrich, who was fatally shot. Their families have set up GoFundMe pages.
TikTok star Anthony Barajas, one of the victims of the shooting at The Crossings Shopping Center movie theater in Corona, California, is currently on life support, police confirmed in a news conference on Wednesday.
Barajas, 19, went to a screening of The Forever Purge with his friend Rylee Goodrich, 18, on July 26, authorities detailed. Following the incident in which a person fired a firearm inside the theater, Barajas and Goodrich were found by theater staff with gunshot wounds.
Suspect Joseph Jimenez, 20, was arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and robbery.
“It was completely unprovoked and the victims were shot without any prior contact,” said Corporal Tobias Kouroubacalis of the Corona Police Department.
Goodrich’s family set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses.
Barajas, known as @itsanthonymichael on TikTok, has nearly 1 million followers on the social media platform and nearly 45,000 followers on Instagram. According to KABC, he’s also a standout football player at Mater Dei High, while Goodrick was a cheerleader who ran on the track and played volleyball.
Barajas’ family also set up a GoFundMe page to help with medical expenses.

Anthony Barajas, the 19-year-old Corona man and TikTok star who was shot dead Monday along with his date at a movie theater in Corona, California, died Saturday, Corona Police said in a statement.
“The Corona Police Department has been informed that Anthony Barajas passed away earlier this morning. We send our thoughts and condolences to his family and friends.”
Father Walter Jenkins, president of the Mater Dei High School where Barajas studied, sent a message regarding his death.
“Anthony was proud and always a monarch. As monarchs, we are proud of Anthony. And we stand by his family at this difficult time,” he said. “From everything we know about him during his time at Mater Dei and beyond, for Anthony Barajas, 19, his faith in Jesus Christ and his love for those around him were central to his life. Only our faith in God and our love for one another can console us now from the crushing sorrow of his death.”

Just before midnight on July 26, police responded to a call for help at a movie theater in The Crossings on the 2600 block of Tuscany Street. Officers found the two victims at the scene.
Rylee Goodrich was dead and Anthony Barajas was kept alive, police said.
Barajas, known online as itsanthonymichael, had nearly a million followers on TikTok and more on other platforms.

The TikToker was filmed during a recent screening of The Forever Purge in Corona, California. Theater employee Kailyn Dillon said none of the staff present at the time “heard the shot.” Police have not yet stated the alleged motive for the shooting, or if it was a targeted attack.
Barajas had been on life support for several days following the shooting and friends including iHeartMedia reporter Malik Earnest had urged witnesses to come forward if they had information.
On July 31, a few days after the attack, it was confirmed that the TikToker had died in hospital. “We extend our thoughts and condolences to his family and friends,” the department said in a statement.

“Please donate to my best friend’s family who are going through a terrible tragedy,” a family friend tweeted before sharing to GoFundMe.
“Vampire Diaries” actor Daniel Newman sent his condolences to the star. “So sad and terrible,” he said.
Several hundred fans gathered in front of the cinema where the shooting took place shortly after the death of the star.
Joseph Jimenez was charged with the shooting
On June 29, 20-year-old Joseph Jimenez was arrested in connection with the shooting. According to CNN, police searched the suspect’s El Cerrito home and found a firearm that “matched the weapon used in the murder.”
The suspect has been charged with the murder of Rylee Goodrich and the attempted murder of the TikTok star. He is currently being held on $2 million bail.
