Kenny Chesney

American country musician

musical artist

Kenneth Arnold Chesney (born March 26, 1968) is an American country music singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He has recorded more than 20 albums and produced more than 40 top 10 singles on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, 32 of which reached number one. Many of them have also made the top 40 on the US Billboard Hot 100, making him one of the most successful crossover country artists. He has sold over 30 million albums worldwide.[2]

Chesney has received twelve Country Music Association Awards (including four-time Best Entertainer of the Year honors) and eleven Academy of Country Music Awards (including four consecutive Entertainer of the Year honors from 2005 to 2008),[3] as well as six Grammy Award nominations. He is one of country music’s most popular touring acts, regularly selling out the venues he performs at.[4] His 2007 Flip-Flop Summer Tour was the highest-grossing country road trip of the year.[5]

Early life[edit]

Chesney was born on March 26, 1968 in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA at St. Mary’s Medical Center and grew up in Luttrell. He is of English and Irish descent. He is the son of David Chesney, a former elementary school teacher, and Karen Chandler, a hairdresser in the Knoxville area. Chesney has one sibling, a younger sister named Jennifer Chandler. In 1986, Chesney graduated from Gibbs High School, where he played baseball and football. At Christmas he got his first guitar “The Terminor” and started to teach himself to play.[6] Chesney studied advertising at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, where he was a member of the ETSU Bluegrass program and the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, graduating in 1990. In 1989 he recorded a self-released demo album at Classic Recording Studio in Bristol, Virginia. He sold 1,000 copies while performing at local clubs in Johnson City and used the money from album sales to buy himself a new guitar. After graduating from East Tennessee State in 1990,[7] he moved to Nashville and performed at several local clubs, including The Bluebird Cafe.[8] He became a resident performer at The Turf, a honky-tonk bar in the city’s historic district.

Career and awards[ edit ]

Signing of first release and record deals [ edit ]

In 1992, Clay Bradley, BMI’s Head of Writer Relations, recommended Chesney to his friend Troy Tomlinson of Opryland Music Group, saying, “I met this East Tennessee boy today. He’s a good singer, a good songwriter and more than anything I think you’re going to really like him as a person.”[9] Chesney performed five songs during his audition for Tomlinson. Tomlinson’s response was enthusiastic, later telling HitQuarters:

First of all, the songs drew me in because I thought he painted great pictures in his lyrics, especially for someone who wasn’t anywhere near your typical Music Row co-writer. I thought he sang very well too. But most of all, there was that “I’ll-do-that” look in his eyes – I was really taken with the fact that he was so determined to be successful in this business.[9]

Chesney walked out of the audition with a songwriting deal. A year later, an appearance at a songwriter’s showcase led to a deal with Capricorn Records, who had recently started a country division.

In My Wildest Dreams (1994)[edit]

Chesney’s debut album, In My Wildest Dreams, was released in April 1994 on the independent Capricorn Records label. The album’s first two singles, “Whatever It Takes” and “The Tin Man,” both reached the lower regions of the US Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. The album sold approximately 10,000 copies before Capricorn Records closed its country music division in Nashville and relocated to Atlanta later that year.

All I Need to Know (1995) [edit]

Chesney then signed with BNA Records and released his second studio album All I Need to Know in 1995. The album produced three singles. “Fall in Love” and the title track both reached the top 10, while “Grandpa Told Me So” peaked at number 23.[10] That same year, Chesney co-wrote the Confederate Railroad single “When He Was My Age” from her album When and Where. Chesney used fiddle and steel instruments on this album to bring out the down-to-earth feelings and unique Tennessee twang in his voice. This album seemed to capture the traditional spirit that made country music popular.[12]

Me and You (1996–97) [ edit ]

Chesney’s third studio album and second major label album entitled Me and You was released in 1996. His first single “Back In My Arms Again” peaked just outside the top 40 on the country chart, while his title track (which Chesney recorded on his previous album) and “When I Close My Eyes” (which was previously recorded by Keith Palmer on his 1991 debut album and then by Larry Stewart on his 1993 debut album Down the Road) both reached #2. Me and You was Chesney’s first album to be certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). [10] A cover of Mac McAnally’s 1990 single “Back Where I Come From” was also included on this album. Although Chesney’s version was never released as a single, it was regularly performed during his concerts. In recognition of his successful year, Chesney was named New Male Vocalist of the Year in 1997 by the Academy of Country Music.

I’ll Stand (1997–98) [ edit ]

I Will Stand, Chesney’s fourth album and his third from BNA Records, followed in 1997. The album’s first single, “She’s Got It All,” became Chesney’s first number one hit on the Billboard Country chart, spending three weeks in this position. 10] The album’s second single, “A Chance,” peaked just inside the top 10. The third single, “That’s Why I’m Here,” peaked at #2 in 1998.

Everywhere We Go (1999)[edit]

Everywhere We Go, Chesney’s fourth album from BNA, was released in 1999. That album produced two consecutive number one hits, “How Forever Feels” and “You Had Me From Hello” (the latter inspired by a line in the Jerry Maguire film). [10] The album also produced two more singles, “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” and “What I Need to Do,” which peaked at #11 and #8, respectively, on the country chart. Everywhere We Go was Chesney’s first album to go platinum.[10] The album marked a shift from his original neo-traditional country sound to his more familiar country-pop/trop rock/golf and western sound for which he has since become known.

Greatest Hits (2000)[edit]

In 2000, Chesney released his compilation album Greatest Hits.[10] It included four new tracks as well as updated versions of “Fall in Love”, “The Tin Man” and “Back Where I Come From”. The new version of “The Tin Man” was one of the three singles on the CD, along with two of the new tracks, “I Lost It” and “Don’t Happen Twice”.[10] In 2001 he performed with Kid Rock at a Waylon Jennings tribute concert covering Waylon’s song Luckenbach Texas.

No Shoes No Shirt No Problems (2002–03) [ edit ]

The album No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems was released in 2002. Its lead-off single, “Young,” peaked at #2, while the follow-up, “The Good Stuff,” stayed at #1 for seven weeks, and became Billboard’s number-one country song of the year in 2002. The video for “Young” was produced by CMT with the awards “Video of the Year” and “Male Video of the Year 2002” awards. In 2003, ACM honored Chesney for Best Male Vocalist of the Year, while “The Good Stuff” received the award for Single Record of the Year. CMT later recognized the video for the album’s title track as the hottest video of the year.

All I Want For Christmas Is A Really Good Tan (2003)

In 2003, Chesney recorded All I Want for Christmas Is a Real Good Tan. The album’s title track reached #30 on Holiday Airplay’s country chart. [citation needed] Another notable piece of work Chesney did in 2003 is that he co-wrote Kid Rock’s single “Cold and Empty” from his self-titled 6th studio album Kid Rock.

When the Sun Goes Down (2004–05)[edit]

In 2004 the album When the Sun Goes Down was released. The lead-off single “There Goes My Life” stayed at number one on the Billboard Country chart for seven weeks. On April 21, 2004, the accompanying music video for this song was awarded Male Video of the Year by CMT. The album’s title track, a duet with Uncle Kracker, also went to number one. The music video for the album’s third single, “I Go Back”, won Country Music Television’s Male Video of the Year Award on April 11, 2005. This song, along with the album’s fourth single, “The Woman with You”, both peaked at number two. Fifth single “Anything But Mine” peaked at number one and final single “Keg in the Closet” peaked at number six.

When the Sun Goes Down won the 2004 CMA Award for Album of the Year, while Chesney was honored for Entertainer of the Year. He was also awarded the 2004 AMA Award for Artist of the Year.

Be Who You Are and The Road and the Radio (2005–06) [ edit ]

In January 2005, Chesney released the album Be as You Are (Songs from an Old Blue Chair) and supported it with his Somewhere in the Sun Tour. Be as You Are consists mainly of ballads. The album qualified RIAA Platinum and reached the pinnacle of both mainstream country and pop music.

In the spring of 2005, Chesney received the Academy of Country Music’s prestigious Triple Crown Award. This award came after Chesney’s 2004 Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year award was combined with the 1997 New Male Vocalist of the Year award and the 2003 Top Male Vocalist of the Year award. The following year, on May 23, 2006, Chesney was honored with their second Entertainer of the Year award at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

Chesney’s next album, The Road and the Radio, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and produced five singles. “Living in Fast Forward,” “Summertime,” and “Beer in Mexico” all reached number one, while “Who You’d Be Today” and “You Save Me” both cracked the top five. Chesney encourages his belief in perfection, because getting songs right in the studio ultimately leads to them being performed directly on the street and on the radio[15].

Live: Live These Songs Again (2006) [ edit ]

Live: Live These Songs Again, Chesney’s debut live album, was released September 19, 2006 through BNA Records. This album contains live interpretations of 15 songs, 11 of which were singles. “Live These Songs”, “Never Gonna Feel Like That Again”, “On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful” and “Back Where I Come From” were never released as singles by Chesney, although “Back Where I Come From” was released as Single from Mac McAnally’s 1990 album Simple Life.

Cooperations[ edit ]

Chesney collaborated with one of his personal heroes, Jimmy Buffett, on a remake of Hank Williams’ single “Hey Good Lookin’ (featuring Clint Black, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith and George Strait) and a second song “License To Chill.” Both songs are on Buffett’s 2004 album License To Chill.

Chesney collaborated with Tim McGraw on a version of Tracy Lawrence’s single Find Out Who Your Friends Are found on his album For the Love. The official single version, featuring only Lawrence’s vocals, was released in August 2006, but didn’t reach the top 40 on the country charts until January 2007, when the album was released. After the album’s release, the version featuring him, Chesney and McGraw received significant airplay, which helped propel the single to No. 1 on the country charts. The song became Lawrence’s first No. 1 single in 11 years as well as the second slowest-rising No. 1 single in the history of the Billboard music chart.

Along with Neil Thrasher and Wendell Mobley, Chesney also co-wrote Rascal Flatts’ 2007 single “Take Me There”, which served as the lead-off single to their album Still Feels Good.[16]

Chesney also recorded a duet with Reba McEntire on her 2007 #1 album Reba: Duets. “Every Other Weekend” peaked at #15 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and #104 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart. The album sold 2.1 million copies worldwide and was certified platinum by the RIAA for selling over 1 million copies. “Every Other Weekend” was the final single from the album.

Super Hits (2007) [ edit ]

On November 7, 2007, Chesney was named CMA Entertainer of the Year for the third time in four years. The following week, on November 15, 2007, the compilation album Super Hits was released as part of Sony BMG’s Super Hits series.

Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates (2007–2008)[edit]

Kenny Chesney performed in 2007

On September 11, 2007, Chesney released the album Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates. This album represented a transition to a gulf and western sound with a series of “airy island songs with steel drums”. Kanye West and 50 Cent’s albums Graduation and Curtis were both released on the same day. Those artists found themselves in the midst of an embattled sales war, with the latter claiming that if West sold more albums than he did, he would end his solo rap career (remarks he later retracted as the terms of the contract conflicted with the promise). ). However, Chesney decided to give country music a place in the competition, claiming that country artists were just as popular as those from the rap genre. Chesney ranked third among the three musicians in record sales.

The lead-off single from Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates was “Never Wanted Nothing More”. This song became Chesney’s twelfth number one hit on the Billboard Country chart.[18] On the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart dated for the week ended September 15, 2007, the album’s second single “Don’t Blink” debuted at number 16, setting a new record for highest debut on that chart since its inception on SoundScan Electronic Tabulation in 1990.[19] That record was broken a week later by Garth Brooks’ “More Than a Memory,” which debuted at number one on the same chart, becoming the first song ever to do so. Third single “Shiftwork” (a duet with George Strait) reached #2 on the country charts. For the week of June 28, 2008, the fourth and final single “Better as a Memory” became Chesney’s fourteenth number one hit.

Kenny Chesney’s Poets and Pirates tour bus in 2008

Chesney began his Poets and Pirates Tour on April 26, 2008 at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina. During the introduction of his set, his boot caught between a hydraulic lift and the edge of the stage surface, crushing his foot and causing a severe ankle hematoma. Most of the damage was concentrated on his toes. It took Chesney about 30 seconds to disengage his foot as he crouched onto the stage as the band continued to play a lengthy introduction to the song. When Chesney finally freed himself, he stood up and put his hand on his knee as he began to sing.

Chesney did not acknowledge the injury early in his performance. However, he limped visibly and appeared to rest near a drum stand while leaning forward and holding his knee during instrumental breaks in his songs. As he walked offstage, a University of South Carolina doctor cut off Chesney’s cowboy boots and immediately began treating the foot injury. X-rays taken afterwards showed multiple fractures in his right foot.

That injury hasn’t prompted him to cancel shows, as he said: “[the doctor] told me it’s going to hurt – although nothing could hurt worse than Saturday I don’t think – and they can give me something, to ease the pain if i need to also have a doctor on hand should anything happen but i’ll stick it on and i’ll get out there. “[20]

On May 19, 2008, just a day after winning ACM Entertainer of the Year at the 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, Chesney criticized the lack of choice in producers’ giving of the award based on fan votes. “The Entertainer of the Year trophy is meant to represent heart and passion, as well as an amazing amount of sacrifice, dedication and focus,” he said. “That’s how Garth [Brooks] won it four times, that’s how I won it, that’s how [George] Strait won it, Reba [McEntire], Alabama all these years. That’s what it’s supposed to represent.”[21]

Lucky Old Sun (2008–2009) [ edit ]

Kenny Chesney during a performance in Jacksonville, Florida on August 30, 2008

On July 24, 2008, Chesney announced that he would be releasing a new single from an upcoming album entitled Lucky Old Sun. The song was titled “Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven” and debuted at number 22 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for the chart week of August 16, 2008. The album was released on October 14, 2008.[22] “Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven” became a #1 hit. A cover of Mac McAnally’s 1990 single “Down the Road” followed.

Chesney’s 2009 tour was titled the Sun City Carnival Tour and featured both small and large venues to keep its ticket prices low. The tour again included an appearance at Gillette Stadium and marked the fifth consecutive year he played at the Foxboro, Massachusetts football field.

During the same period, Chesney produced a film for ESPN called The Boys of Fall (2010).

Greatest Hits II (2010)[edit]

In May 2009, Chesney released his second compilation album, Greatest Hits II. This album included the #1 hit “Out Last Night” as the lead single. On February 9, 2010, this album was re-released with two new tracks “This Is Our Moment” and “Ain’t Back Yet”, the latter becoming the third single from the album in February 2010. Also included on this album is one that Willie Nelson recorded before Chesney, “I’m Alive”. Chesney himself later recorded a version of the song as a duet with Dave Matthews. This version was released in August 2009 as the second single from the album.

Hemingway’s Whiskey (2010–2011) [ edit ]

In July 2010, Chesney released “The Boys of Fall” as the lead-off single from his album Hemingway’s Whiskey, released in September 2010. The song reached #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart for the week of October 9. 2010, Chesney’s eighteenth number one hit. [citation required]

He then performed at the 44th Annual Country Music Awards on November 10, 2010.

Hemingway’s Whiskey’s second single, “Somewhere with You”, was released in November 2010. The song debuted at number 35 on the country chart for the week of November 6, 2010. Both he and his follow-up, Live a Little, debuted at #1 on the country charts. The next single was “You and Tequila”, co-written and originally recorded by Deana Carter. Chesney’s rendition, which featured Grace Potter on backing vocals, went to No. 3. After that, “Reality” also went to No. 1. [citation needed]

Chesney produced and narrated a biographical film, The Color Orange, about his favorite growing up football player, University of Tennessee quarterback and Canadian Football League Hall-of-Famer Condredge Holloway. The film was produced for ESPN’s Year of the Quarterback series and premiered on February 20, 2011.

Welcome to the Fishbowl (2012)[edit]

Chesney released his fourteenth studio album, Welcome to the Fishbowl, on June 19, 2012. Its lead-off single, a Tim McGraw duet entitled “Feel Like a Rock Star,” debuted at number 13 on the country chart, making it the second-highest-grossing debut country song since the Billboard chart first broke through Nielsen SoundScan tabulated the highest debuting duet on this chart.[27] Despite its high debut, the song peaked at number 11 just six weeks later before falling.

BNA Records closed in June 2012. As a result, Chesney was transferred to Columbia Nashville.[28] His first release under Columbia was the album’s second single, “Come Over”, which peaked at #1. The album’s third and final single was “El Cerrito Place”, written by Keith Gattis and originally recorded by Charlie Robison. Chesney’s rendition, which featured Grace Potter on backing vocals, [29] reached #10 on the country charts.

Life on a Rock (2013)[edit]

Chesney released his fifteenth studio album Life on a Rock on April 30, 2013.[30] The album’s first single, “Pirate Flag”, was released on iTunes on February 5, 2013 and reached #3 on the Country Airplay chart in May 2013. Pirate Flag peaked at number 7 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart on May 25, 2013.[31] The album’s second single, “When I See This Bar”, was released on country radio on June 10, 2013. When I See This Bar peaked at number 25 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart on September 14, 2013. This particular album was a drastic change from its normal country feel to an all-beach and island touch.[33]

The Great Awakening (2014)[edit]

In June 2014, Chesney released the new song “American Kids” to the radio. This song served as the lead-off single from his sixteenth studio album The Big Revival, released September 23, 2014. The album’s second single, “Til It’s Gone”, was released in mid-October.[36] It reached number one on the Country Airplay chart for the week of January 31, 2015. The third single “Wild Child”, a duet with Grace Potter, was released two days later. It reached number one on the Country Airplay chart for the week of June 27, 2015. The album’s fourth single, “Save It for a Rainy Day”, was released to country radio on June 29, 2015. It peaked at number one on the Country Airplay chart for the week of October 9, 2015. [citation needed]

On October 24, Chesney announced his 2015 tour, The Big Revival Tour, which began on March 26, 2015. On October 27, he and Jason Aldean announced that they would be performing 10 stadium shows together this summer.[38] Two days later, Brantley Gilbert announced that he would be opening for Chesney/Aldean’s stadium shows, as well as five additional shows on Chesney’s solo tour.

Cosmic Hallelujah (2016) [ edit ]

On March 7, 2016, Chesney announced that he was in the studio working on new music. The lead single from the album is titled “Noise” which was released to country radio on March 24, 2016. The album Cosmic Hallelujah was released on October 28.[41] The second song from the album, “Setting the World on Fire”, featuring singer P!NK, was released on country radio on July 28, 2016.

No Shoes Nation (2017)[edit]

On August 25, 2012, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Kenny Chesney announced to his fans that he would be naming his fan No Shoes Nation. The term “No Shoes Nation” comes from Chesney’s hit “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem”.[42] The symbol of the No Shoes Nation is a black flag with a white skull and crossbones.[43] The name was accompanied by a live album called Live in No Shoes Nation, which topped the Billboard 200 upon its release in late 2017.[44] No Shoes Nation inspired the name of Chesney’s Sirius XM channel, No Shoes Radio.[45]

Songs for the Saints (2018) [ edit ]

In January 2018, it was announced that Chesney had ended his contract with Sony Music Nashville and signed to Warner Bros. Records Nashville.[46] Chesney released his first album with Warner entitled Songs for the Saints on July 27, 2018.[47]

Here and Now (2020) [ edit ]

In March 2020, he announced a new album called Here and Now, which includes the title track and “Tip of My Tongue,” a leadoff single released in mid-2019. The album debuted at number one and became Chesney’s 16th top 10 album on the US Billboard 200 with 233,000 units.

Personal life[edit]

In 2000, Chesney and Tim McGraw got into an argument with police officers in Buffalo, New York after Chesney attempted to ride a police horse. McGraw came to Chesney’s aid after nearby police officers believed the horse had been stolen.[49] The two were arrested and charged, Chesney with disorderly conduct and McGraw with assault, but were acquitted in 2001.[50]

On May 9, 2005, Chesney married actress Renée Zellweger in a ceremony on the island of St. John. They met in January at a tsunami relief event. On September 15 of the same year, after only four months of marriage, they announced their plans for an annulment. Zellweger cited fraud as the reason in the related papers, and after a media scrutiny of her use of the word “fraud,” she qualified the term’s use, stating that it was “simply legal language and not a reflection of Kenny’s character.” Chesney later suggested that the failure of his marriage was because “I was panicking.”[51] In a 60 Minutes interview with Anderson Cooper, Chesney commented on the failed marriage: “The only betrayal that was committed was that I thought that I knew what it was like … that I really understood what it was like to be married, and I really didn’t.”[52] The annulment was completed in late December 2005.

In 2015, Forbes estimated Chesney’s annual income at $42 million.[53]

Philanthropy[ edit ]

In 2017, Chesney came to the aid of victims of Hurricane Irma in the United States and British Virgin Islands, one of whom was transported to the mainland United States free of charge.[54] Chesney owns a mansion on St. John in the US Virgin Islands, where many stayed to weather the storm. Chesney also established a charity fund, Love for Love City,[55] to help victims of the storm.[56] Chesney will donate all proceeds from Songs for the Saints to the fund.[55]

Tours [ edit ]

Chesney won the Billboard Touring Award for Top Package Tour five years in a row between 2005 and 2009 and again in 2011.

Early life: Kenny Chesney and his guitar

Kenny Chesney was born on March 26, 1968 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee to parents David Chesney and Karen Chandler. His father David was a former elementary school teacher while his mother Karen worked as a hairdresser. He has one sibling, a younger sister named Jennifer. Chesney grew up in the small town of Luttrell.

He attended Gibbs High School where he played baseball and football and dreamed of becoming a star athlete. However, when he graduated in 1986, his mother gave him his very first guitar, which he dubbed “The Terminor”. He then began teaching himself to play and also began composing songs.

After high school, he enrolled at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, where he studied advertising. He was also a member of the ETSU Bluegrass program and the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Then, around 1987, he began performing at a small club near campus, where he makes $5 an hour. Two years later he recorded a self-released demo album that sold over a thousand copies and helped him buy a new guitar.

After graduating from college in 1990, Chesney went to Nashville, where he performed at several local clubs including The Bluebird Cafe and honky-tonk bar The Turf, where he became a resident performer.

The Love Story Behind the Spotlight: Meet Chesney’s longtime girlfriend, Mary Nolan

While Chesney enjoyed decades of career success, his love life didn’t have exactly the same turnout. Nevertheless, he now seems very happy with his girlfriend Mary Nolan, with whom he has been in a relationship since 2012.

But before Nolan, Chesney was already married to actress Renée Zellweger after a whirlwind romance. The couple first met in January 2005 at NBC’s Concert of Hope, a tsunami relief telethon. They then went out and publicly announced their relationship five months later at one of Chesney’s concerts in Jacksonville, Florida. To the great surprise of the audience, Renée took the stage and personally presented Kenny with a margarita and a kiss!

And just a week later, the couple wed in an intimate ceremony in St. John, which surprised fans even more. According to friends and guests, Renée was waiting for the right one to step into her life, and when she met Kenny, she knew it. And as for Kenny, Renée was just perfect for him.

But as quickly as they both fell in love, they fell out of her again. On September 15, 2005, just four months after their wedding, they announced that they would annul their marriage. The termination was completed in December 2005.

Two years later, Kenny began dating Mary Nolan from behind the spotlight, and the couple kept their relationship very private. Very little was known about Nolan, and she was only seen in public with Chesney twice. The first was at the 2014 American Country Countdown Awards in Nashville. And the second was in 2016 during the CMA Awards, where Chesney won the prestigious Pinnacle Award. The couple is still going strong after almost a decade together.

Debunking the Rumor: Is Kenny Chesney Gay?

No, Kenny Chesney is not gay.

Rumors surrounding Kenny Chesney’s sexuality were ignited following his shock split from actress Renée Zellweger after just four months of marriage. People particularly speculated about the “cheating reason” for their cancellation. But two years later, in a sit-down interview with Anderson Cooper, Chesney denied the rumors, explaining that he chose to speak out later as he didn’t want to draw more attention to it.

They simply chose to tick the scam box as it was the least harmful of all reasons. Renée also clarified in 2016 that it was purely legal language and did not reflect Kenny’s character.

Career: Breakthrough albums and premium rum brand

In 1992, Chesney was discovered by Broadcast Music’s Clay Bradley, who then referred him to Opryland Music Group’s Troy Tomlinson. His audition with Tomlinson was so impressive that it launched a career in country music. He walked out of the audition with a songwriting deal in hand.

But it was 1995 with BNA Records that launched his career into stardom. He released his second studio album, All I Need To Know, which went gold. His follow-up albums Me and You and I Will Stand both went platinum, while his 1999 album Everywhere We Go went double platinum.

By 2000, Kenny Chesney was already making a name for himself in the industry, and legions of country fans were following him. In his 27-year career, he released more than 20 chart-topping albums. He also received numerous awards.

But apart from being a musician, he is also an entrepreneur. He has his 100% premium rum brand, Blue Chair Bay Rum, which offers authentic Caribbean rum blended with natural ingredients like coconut, banana, and pineapple. Chesney practically worked alongside one of the world’s greatest rum blenders, Mike Booth, and master mixologist Jonathan Pogash to create bottles of rum infused with flavors you’d enjoy at the beach. He launched the brand in 2013.

And just this summer, the brand partnered with Tipsy Scoop to create four rum-infused ice cream flavors, including Dirty Banana, Mango Daiquiri, Piña Colada, and Spiked Key Lime Pie. You can check out these flavors on their website, along with their classic flavors for you to enjoy anytime.

Living His Life: 2021 net worth, earnings and updates

It’s undeniable that his success in the industry is far from over, and even his net worth shows how much he’s amassed over the years. While multiple sources are reporting differing estimates of his net worth, Kenny Chesney is well over the $150 million mark in 2021, and some are even saying he’s already worth around $250 million. But one thing is certain; he’s making more and more every year – an average of $50 million.

A self-proclaimed workaholic, Kenny Chesney is back on tour in 2021. He just kicked off his Chillaxification Tour with Florida Georgia Line, Old Dominion, Michael Franti and Spearhead on May 1st in Tampa, Florida. The tour will have 23 stops before its final show on August 28th in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

You can check Kenny Chesney’s tour schedule (and buy tickets) and other important music updates on his official website.
